9. Seconds after witnessing the skills of a professional actor, Hamlet is awestruck. The disingenuous sorrow forced through rehearsal compared to the lack of display of emotion Hamlet displays when he does nothing in reaction to his unfortunate situation. Repetition of adjectives, comparisons, and constant self-loathing portrays Hamlet's disgust at himself; his lack of action and initiative to avenging his father leading Hamlet to begin his vengeance.
7. The distinction between honesty and deception is skewed--there is no distinction. Claudius rose to power through a lie and it seems honesty is lost except in the few like Polonius who is rudely honest. Which will prevail--the truth or the lies? This theme sets up the entire play in which the audience witnesses all the deception and trickery that goes around attempting to decipher if the truth really will "set you free". The chicanery only creates chaos in the play and the truth does nothing but sits idly; neither is more beneficial than the other and Until the play is fully read we will not know. However it is clear that there is no decisive winner.
