Time VS Time (Carpe Diem)

Both essentially poems deal with time and the effects time has on people. However, each take a different stance on how to deal with time. Ozymandias describes a journeyman and his discovery on a statue of Ozymandias; a man who was king of kings. Yet this might figure above all others stands today buried, ruined, and its surroundings decayed--emphasizing the minimalness of human life to that of time. On the other hand, Ponder plays off of the ideas in Ozymandias but adds a spin; the author in Ponder attempts to gain the love of his mistress through the fear of time. Through Carpe Diem, Ponder aims to get physical affection by convincing the mistress to love him now rather than later just like Marvell did in To His Coy Mistress.
